With more than 20 years of service to the Parish we are sad that John Lewis has stepped down from his role as Tree Warden. However, we are delighted that Amy Walkden has taken up the mantle.

Amy has lived in Abbotskerswell for 14 years and until becoming a stay at home mum to her 3-year-old daughter; she was working for the NHS in Torbay as a Community Psychiatric Nurse, working in various Public Health front-line and commissioning roles, most recently managing the Primary Care Drug and Alcohol service.

One of her roles since leaving the NHS has been to represent the Green Party at local elections for Ambrook Ward on two occasions. She has been a member of their party for 5 years and is also a member of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and the Butterfly Conservation Society.

Environmentalism, ecology and protecting the natural world are a particular passion of hers; she spends much of her free time enjoying and learning about local wildlife.  She does this personally by gardening for the benefit of nature, advising friends and family on how to create ‘wildlife gardens’, exploring our ancient Devon hedgerows, bird watching, bat detecting, moth trapping, foraging, beachcombing and encouraging indigenous species of wildflowers and trees to thrive, where possible without the use of chemicals and pesticides.

A big welcome to Amy who can be contacted via her email  This email address is being protected from spambots.
