It was a resounding YES to the Abbotskerswell Neighbourhood Plan on which 349 residents voted in favour and just 48 voted against.

Teignbridge District Council issued ballot papers to all voters in the Parish for a poll on Thursday 28th September 2017 and the ballot papers asked 'Do you want TDC to use the neighbourhood plan for Abbotskerswell to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

This was the next stage in making the Neighbourhood Plan apply (or not) to planning applications that are made in and around our Parish. The vote in favour or against was determined by the numbers of yes's versus no's.

The plan was ratified by the Executive Committee of Teignbridge District Council on the 31st October 2017. So the plan now passes into being. It now holds the same weight as Teignbridge's Local Plan in all planning applications relating to the Parish of Abbotskerswell.

The Plan is much more than a tool for planning applications to be measured against, it is also a blueprint containing policies and aspirations to ensure the future well-being of our community. It is now the duty of the Parish Council to create an agenda of actions to carry through these policies and aspirations all of which are detailed in the plan itself.

All the preparatory materials and history of how the plan came into being can be found from this area. The supporting Referendum Documents are available to view below:
